Maded up Tarpon Leader

A made up Tarpon leader of 9′ using Seaguar Big game Fluro for many year its been our go to Tarpon Fluro leader material.
I use 5′ of 50lb mono attached to 4′ of Big game fluro rubbing leader. The rubbing leader is long enough to be able to cut off any scuffed parts near the fly every time you jump a poon and re-tie on a fly several times.
I like using mono for the first part of the leader as it has some stretch and can stop ‘shock’ breakages on hard takes or over exuberant stripe strikes!
Our Tarpon leaders are 9' and come in 2 different sizes.
These have been our goto Tarpon leader for many year. They are made up using a stiff mono for 5 ' and 4' of Seagaur big game leader for the hard rubbing part of the leader to the Tarpon fly.
They are constructed with a perfection loop in the mono to connect to the fly line and a double blood ( to keep the knot as small as possible) to the Fluro.
I would suggest trying and taking along some of my Pink label Tarpon leaders as well for when the tarpon are being very fussy !!
This design we have found allows for some stretch in the mono on a hard take or and over exuberant stripe strike and with 4 ' of rubbing leader there is enough length to allow for a new fly knot and any roughed up leader to be cut off and a new fly tied on several times.
