It’s been a rewarding mayfly season especially with all that going on in the world, to be able to just lose myself in some great fishing.

I had a spectacular mayfly season with fish from 4 oz to 3 lbs mostly on my 2 wt Sage zxl combined with a Royal Wulff triangular tapered 2 wt which I love for the ability to roll cast on my small river.

I was especially lucky as my friend Paul Procter had time this year to tie some of his special mayfly patterns, I’d been trying to get him to tie me a few for some time but in a normal years usually out for the country with FlyOdyssey of lost in his Cumbrian rivers !!!!!!

With the exceptionally dry and sunny spring this year the May fly started to show themselves very early this year and were virtually over by the end of May. Most years the don’t start until the end of may on my river!!

Here are some shots and some photos of PP’s mayflies.

Nature’s beauty !

Paul Procter’s mayfly emerges top right, his really effective sparkle mayfly spinner and his mayfly dun. I have also included one of my grey wulff’s top left
